Product Simson Prep K is a pretreatment to improve the adhesion of several specific Simson products, based on Silyl Modified Polymer (SMP) and silicones, mainly on plastic substrates. Applications v Pretreatment of plastics like hard and soft PVC (no PP, PE and PTFE). v Pretreatment of ABS. Method of use Substrate: substrate needs to be dry, clean, and free of grease and dust. Keep container closed until using it. Method of use: Keep container closed until moment of application. Open the container and puncture the foil. Do not use Prep K from the container, but pour as much as one can work with in 30 minutes in a separate can. Do not use remains of product after 30 minutes. Close container as soon as possible. Prep K can be applied with a clean brush or with a cloth. Prep K is transparent, but can be discoulour due to UV light, making it visible. If this is unwanted, it is necessary to use a masking tape. Do not pretreat a larger surface area than can be bonded within 6 hours. Do not touch treated surfaces, as this can affect adhesion negatively. Condensation may also affect adhesion negatively. Application temperature: +5°C to +30°C. Drying time: approx. 30 minutes. Strongly contaminated surfaces need to be cleaned first with for example Simson Cleaner 14. Test if cleaner is affecting surface condition. Note: Prep K may attack the surface of some plastics. Please do a compatibility test before usage.

  • Prep M

Product Simson Prep M is a one-step pretreatment for the improvement of the adhesion on closed substrates of several specific Simson products, based on Silyl Modified Polymer (SMP). Consult the Technical Data Sheet of the particular product. Applications v Pretreatment of plain aluminium, steel, copper and brass surfaces. v Pretreatment of powder coated metals. v Pretreatment of lacquered metals (first make a test on the substrate to check possible effects). v Pretreatment of polyester (GRP). v Pretreatment of ABS. v Pretreatment of PVC. Features v Fast drying; approximately 5 minutes. v Easy to use one-step process. v Efficient in use. Method of use The substrates should be clean, dry, dust- and grease free. Keep the packaging well closed until the moment of use. Do not use Prep M direct from the original packaging. Pour as much Prep M in a clean glass or tin as can be used within 30 minutes and immediately close the original tin firmly. Prep M should not be applied in too thick a coat. Firmly rub the surface by means of a clean, colour free cloth or tissue paper, wetted with Prep M. In this way the surfaces will be cleaned and pretreated in one operation. After a drying time of approximately 5 minutes (solvent should be evaporated) the sealant or adhesive can be applied. Best results are obtained when the bonding/sealing will be realised within 6 hours after applying of Prep M. Therefore do not apply more Prep M than can be sealed within 6 hours. Avoid contact with the pretreated surface, because this can cause bad adhesion. Note 1: Prep M should not be applied on those areas which have to be painted afterwards, due to the bad paint compatibility of Prep M. In this case only apply Prep M on that area where the sealant or adhesive will be applied by use of e.g. masking tape (however it is possible to remove residues of Prep M afterwards from the cleaned surfaces by use of e.g. Simson Cleaner 14, Simson Liquid 1 or Simson Cleaner I). Test the substrate in advance to check possible effects. Note 2: If a surface is strongly contaminated clean first with e.g. Cleaner 14. It is recommended to make a trial first to check possible attack of the substrate by Cleaner 14.

The Simson Industrial Special Range is a range of high tech quality products especially developed for industrial applications. Product Prep P is a liquid pretreatment for improving the adhesion of several Simson products on porous substrates. Consult the technical information leaflet of the particular product. Applications Pretreatment of mineral substrates, such as brickwork, concrete and lightweight concrete. Pretreatment of wooden substrates (such as seams in teakwood ship decks). Method of use Substrates should be clean, firm, dry and dust- and grease free. Substrates may be cleaned with Simson Cleaner E. Keep the packaging well closed until the moment of use. Do not use Prep P direct from the original packaging. Pour as much Prep P into a clean glass or tin as can be used within 30 minutes and immediately close the original tin firmly. Use always a clean brush for the application of Prep P. Apply Prep P to the adhesion surface only in such a way, that Prep P forms a continuous coat or film. Prep P should be applied in a thin coat. Do not apply Prep P on already dried product. The application temperature may vary from +5°C till +30°C. The minimum drying time of Prep P is 60 minutes. Best results are obtained when the bonding/sealing will be realised within 6 hours after applying Prep P. Therefore do not apply more Prep P than can be sealed within 6 hours. Avoid contact with the cleaned and pretreated surfaces because greasy fingers can cause a bad adhesion. Also, condensation can negatively influence the adhesion. It is not recommended to use Prep P and to seal the joints during very high air humidity, for example during fog.

  • Simson Prep G plus MB 250 ML/C12

The Simson Industrial Special Range is a range of high tech quality products especially developed for industrial applications. Product Prep G has been developed as a black pretreatment for use on glass, not having a ceramic coating, in order to provide a UV-protecting coat, before applying special adhesives for bonding glass (also PMMA and PC) in the automotive, bus, ship and railway industries. Applications Pretreatment of glass substrates without ceramic coating. Repair of damaged paint layers on metallic supports. Method of use The substrate should be clean, firm, dry and dust- and grease free. Cleaning of the substrates can be done with e.g. Simson Cleaner 14 or Simson Cleaner I. A small trial before application whether the cleaners will not attack the substrate is recommended. Keep the packaging of Prep G well closed until the moment of use. Prep G reacts with the humidity of the air. Shake bottle before use. Do not re-use a previously opened bottle. For the application of Prep G always use a clean brush, roller or felt applicator. The primer should be applied in one strike. Application temperature between +5°C and +30°C. Do not use when condensation is formed (high air humidity and cold substrates). Prep G should dry for at least 5 minutes. Apply the adhesive within 24 hours.
